Tomorrow is Halloween!
How does your protagonist celebrate? Is there a Halloween in your novel’s universe? If not, is there something similar? What’s it like?
What will your protagonist be doing at the very start of your NaNovel?
The goal number of words to write each day in November is 1667 (You might have a different goal than 50,000, so this number may vary for you.)
So, in order to help you gauge just how much can happen in 1667 words, start writing. It doesn’t matter what it’s about— your life, your characters, anything.
I try doing this near the end of every October, and every year I’m surprised at just how much 1667 words is, and it really helps to warm me up for November.
Your protagonist knows he/she has 24 hours left to live. What three things would he/she would do with the remaining time?
What words would your protagonist use to describe him/herself? What words would others use to describe your protagonist? If these words are different, why?

Your protagonist empties the contents of his/her pockets, purse, and/or backpack onto a table. What all was dumped onto the table?
What kind of music does your protagonist listen to? How does he/she listen to this music? How does he/she obtain said music— iTunes, CD, phonograph, downloaded directly into the brain?
